| UkSATSE monitors the situation in the country's airspace: there is currently no danger for civil aviation |
As a consequence of geopolitical tensions linked to the Russian Federation's military build-up along Ukraine's borders and on the temporarily occupied territory of Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration of US Department of Transportation) today has issued NOTAM A0012/21 that due to potential hazards, advises operators of their aircraft to exercise extreme caution when flying into, out of, within, or over those areas of the Moscow flight information region (FIR) (UUWV) and the Rostov-na-Donu FIR (URRV) within 100nm of the boundaries with the Dnipro FIR (UKDV), the Simferopol FIR (UKFV), and the Kyiv FIR (UKBV) (includes that portion of the Kyiv upper information region (UIR) (UKBU) airspace within the lateral limits of the UKDV, UKFV, and UKBV FIRs).
NOTAM A0013 / 21 recommends US registered airlines and aircraft to exercise extreme caution when planning flights within the Dnipro flight information region (FIR) (UKDV), the Simferopol FIR (UKFV), and the Kyiv FIR (UKBV) (includes that portion of the Kyiv upper information region (UIR) (UKBU) airspace within the lateral limits of the UKDV, UKFV, and UKBV FIRS).
This decision is prompted by the deteriorating situation along Ukraine's borders and geopolitical tensions over the last days.
The G7 Foreign Ministers' official statement highlighted the threatening and destabilizing activity of large-scale Russian troop movements along Ukraine's borders without prior notice. They called on Russia to halt provocations and immediately de-escalate tensions in line with its international obligations.
As part of a direct dialogue with US aviation authority, the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine has proposed to establish the immediate interaction between the relevant aviation security units to exchange information and coordinate the response to threats from the conflict zone in the eastern part of the country. The Ukrainian side is also ready to provide full information on the condition of air navigation services and aviation safety in Ukraine for the sake of coordinated actions in the future.
Remember, that in order to ensure the safety of civil aircraft flights in the airspace under Ukraine's responsibility, since 2014 there have been put in place certain restrictions related to the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine in the east of the country and the temporary occupation of Crimea.
All other airspace under the responsibility of Ukraine is now safe and available for planning and execution of civil aviation flights.
Ukraine has a special early warning procedure for civil aviation to respond immediately on detected and potential threats arising in the conflict zone.
UkSATSE monitors the situation in the country's airspace: it is calm and under control. There is now no danger for civil aviation. |
