Heads of EUROCONTROL and UkSATSE discuss prospects for resumption of civil aviation flights in Ukrainian airspace |
On his second stay in Ukraine, EUROCONTROL Director General Mr. Medina visited the UkSATSE office where he could witness the unique experience the company has gained during the wartime, with its main focus on maintaining competencies, providing refresher training for personnel and ensuring the operational status of ground infrastructure.
Special efforts are being made to develop scenarios for the rapid resumption of air navigation services in Ukrainian airspace.
The effective functioning of the Fund and close cooperation with EUROCONTROL have enabled this to happen.
Andrii Yarmak, Director of UkSATSE: «Mr. Medina’s visit is an important political signal for consolidating efforts with the EUROCONTROL Member States to continue the full functioning of the Fund and to further implement the measures provided for in the EUROCONTROL-UkSATSE Action Plan and aimed at the swift recovery of air navigation services in the airspace of Ukraine».
The visit also included a trilateral meeting with representatives of EUROCONTROL, UkSATSE and Boryspil International Airport where the main topics of discussion were the prospects and possibilities for resuming civil aviation operations in Ukrainian airspace, as well as the readiness of air navigation and airport infrastructure to provide flight services after the end of the war.
During the meeting, the parties discussed strategic steps to ensure air traffic safety, infrastructure readiness, and support for qualified personnel of aviation companies.
The Heads of UkSATSE and Boryspil Airport underlined their readiness to work in close cooperation with EUROCONTROL to ensure Ukraine’s return to the international aviation community as soon as possible from a safety perspective. Such cooperation will allow for a comprehensive approach to addressing the key challenges faced by the Ukrainian aviation sector. |
