Save your sky! – For a safe and resilient air traffic control system
International aviation organizations have joined efforts to draw the attention of the European community to the situation in air traffic control.

Representatives of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations (IFATCA), International Federation of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Associations (IFATSEA) which also comprise UkSATSE trade unions, as well as several other organizations representing the interests of aviation workers (ATCEUC, ETF, IFAIMA) call upon European institutions and member states to find an elaborate Europe-wide plan for the aviation sector that includes air traffic management and air navigation services.

A corresponding petition has been created, and its initiators urge all those who care about the future of European and world aviation to sign it: https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/save-y...rol-system.html

It is emphasized in the text accompanying the petition that workers in air traffic management and air navigation services make sure that air traffic runs smoothly and safely, every day, no matter the circumstances. Even during the global COVID-19 pandemic, the system kept operating 24/7, ensuring that ambulance flights, cargo flights carrying essential equipment and medicines, hospital and repatriation flights were carried out safely.

Even though Air Navigation Service Providers worked diligently during this pandemic, they were left with literally no funding.

The functioning of aviation industry is impossible without Air Traffic Control which is part of critical infrastructure, and it has to remain functional no matter the circumstances or political situation.
