Ukraine’s National Aviation Day |
Since 1993, Ukraine’s National Aviation Day has been marked annually on the last Saturday of August as a professional celebration for civil and military pilots, air traffic controllers and all those who work in the aviation industry. The people employed in this sphere perform vital work that carries ever greater importance in today’s globalized world.
The preamble to the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation states that “the future development of international civil aviation can greatly help to create and preserve friendship and understanding among the nations and peoples of the world”.
Each state takes care of the development of its own aviation industry, and Ukraine has much to be proud of in this respect. Our country is recognized throughout the world as a state with a powerful aviation industry, which possesses the full set of aviation infrastructure components including an efficient governmental regulatory system, a professional training system, aircraft construction enterprises, a developed airport network and an up-to-date Air Navigation System.
One of the key branches of the aviation industry in Ukraine is Air Traffic Management. The main provider of air navigation services in Ukraine is the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Enterprise (UkSATSE).
The state policy for the overall development of aviation envisages in particular the setting up of facilities to create favourable conditions for Ukrainian airspace users. UkSATSE is continually working on modernizing its Air Navigation System to improve the quality of the services provided and the level of technical equipment as well as working on enhancing the airspace structure and developing transnational air corridors. Statistics show that air carriers are opting to use Ukrainian airspace more and more often when planning their international routes. In the first half of 2006, UkSATSE serviced more than 160 000 movements, which represents an increase of 12.6% compared with the same period of the previous year.
This growth in air traffic and the high level of flight safety make a significant contribution to Ukraine’s economic growth and raising its profile in the international arena.
Dear colleagues!
I am delighted to congratulate you on Ukraine’s National Aviation Day! May I wish you health, joy, happiness, the very best of luck and every success in the future development of Ukrainian aviation!
