Greetings to fellow communications, navigation and surveillance professionals from air traffic controllers
We continue the great tradition of greetings from our nearest colleagues and today, on Radio, Television and Communications Workers' Day, air traffic controllers congratulate communications, navigation and surveillance service specialists on their professional holiday. Thanks to the cooperation of these people, we guarantee the safety in the skies over Ukraine.

Vоlodymyr CHERENKOV

Air traffic controller of UkSATSE air traffic control tower at Kharkiv airport

"Air traffic is managed by air traffic controllers, safety is largely their responsibility. But everyone understands that air traffic controllers do not work in an open field, signalling with flags. We work in special premises behind modern equipment, in front of monitors that have all the necessary radar and other information on them. Air traffic control is a teamwork, and not only in the context of interaction among air traffic controllers. Because behind the air traffic control shift is another shift of communication, navigation and surveillance specialists - engineers, technicians... They are responsible for the serviceability of the equipment we use in our work, for the accuracy of the parameters given out by air navigation aids, and for the quality of aeronautical radio communications. This is the part of the necessary round-the-clock work that is beyond the control of air traffic controllers due to their specific capabilities. Our colleagues constantly monitor equipment operation, and at the slightest malfunction, a controller calls an engineer on duty and knows that he will get help instantly.

Air traffic controllers have always been a close team with communication, navigation and surveillance specialists. In my 30 years as an air traffic controller, I have many friends from CNS service. Starting in Luhansk, where I worked, now in Kharkiv. I still warmly remember many of the so-called old guard who were at the origins of the service and contributed a lot to building a team of the best specialists. And the young specialists in Kharkiv are incredibly bright heads and are so skilled in knowledge of modern computer technology and radar equipment that they are able to solve any problem in five minutes. A young man or girl of 25 to 30 years comes in from CNS service and you can be confident that they will arrange everything.

On a separate note, I would like to underline how I am proud of my friend Pavel Starchenko - he worked as an engineer in our unit in Luhansk, he knew every screw and wire at the airport, and has been assisting our military for a long time after the hostilities started. He now is working at Kyivcenteraero RB.

I wish all my fellow engineers, in big and small services, today the most important thing - 36.6 - good health and always be the high-level professionals that they are - no matter how the technology changes. And the most significant thing for everyone, regardless of their profession, is to remain human beings.”

Serhiy SHEVCHUK

Air Traffic Controller of Lviv Area Control Centre

"We - air traffic controllers work side by side with communications, navigation and surveillance specialists and can count on their help at any time. I am grateful to my CNS colleagues for their skill in keeping the equipment up and running so that we can adequately assess the air situation. They also always respond to any situation in a timely manner. The CNS specialists help not only the air traffic controllers but also the pilots with their cooperation.
They are professionals who are on call at a moment's notice and ready to correct faults in equipment, because the human factor is very important - without people, equipment cannot function.
To all fellow engineers I wish harmony and health in their families, good teamwork and let UkSATSE thrive thanks to our joint efforts.”

Denys Kurnosov

Air Traffic Controller of Kyiv Area Control Centre

"I personally always enjoy working together with the communications, navigation and surveillance specialists. They constantly assist us in a very professional manner. In my experience there have been different situations: some functions of the automated system did not work correctly, there were problems with communication, location data, monitor, etc. The CNS specialists were very quick to react and come to the rescue at such times. They are specialists with a capital letter. The engineering staff for an air traffic controller are his/her extra "hands", so to say.

On this holiday, I wish our colleagues happiness, health, prosperity, longevity and professional success.”

Valerii GLIBOVV

Flight Supervisor - Head of Duty Shift at the Odesa Area Control Centre

“We work as a team with our colleagues from Communications, Navigation and Surveillance service. They support us a lot in our day-to-day work to ensure flight safety. Their main task is the timely provision of a quality radar field, which depends on operation of radar stations and positions, reliable UKV communication and information exchange with adjacent area control centres - this is the so-called OLDI protocol. We have friendly teamwork. The CNS specialists joined air traffic control system later than air traffic controllers, but they joined the structure and now we all work together for safety of flights both over the territory of Ukraine and in international airspace. I particularly draw attention to the joint work in international airspace over the Black Sea, where air traffic increases daily and brings profit to our own enterprise and to Ukraine as a whole.

I wish my colleagues happiness, health and family well-being. Because when there is well-being in the family, there is also well-being at work. These are interrelated things. I would also like to wish further modernisation, so that CNS specialists get modern equipment and support us in our work.

On a separate note, I am proud of my colleagues Valerii Tsvetkov, Evgenii Grubin, Grigorii Komendant and Anatolii Khavronich. They are dedicated professionals who have been with the company for decades and are always ready to lend a hand. Many of the specialists have now retired, but Anatolii Stepurko and Igor Taniuk have made significant contributions to the system development and we still remember them with gratitude.”

Olexandr Babych

Air Traffic Controller of Dnipro Area Control Centre

“In over 10 years as an air traffic controller, I can not remember a day without the cooperation with our engineering colleagues. We are responsible for safety through radio technology and computer systems, the reliability of which depends entirely on radio communication specialists.

Our highly qualified colleagues help solve any issues related to the quality of air navigation services - whether it is radio interference or a lack of ground communications. There should be no disruption in aviation, and it is thanks to the CNS experts that standby systems are always ready to replace the main systems.

Dear colleagues, I congratulate you on your professional holiday and wish you long and successful years of work. Let the hard times for aviation pass and let the time of development and prosperity come!”
