Ukraine and European Union (EU) signed Agreement on aviation
On 1 December 2005 representatives of Ukraine and EU signed the Agreement between Ukraine and EU on aviation. Ratification of the document was executed in the framework of Ukraine-EU  ummit, currently being conducted in Kyiv.
 ignature of the Agreement is a prerequisite for further development of co-operation in the transport sector, particularly in the context of “common aviation area” and conclusion of Agreement on deep co-operation in the sphere of aviation.

Considering development aviation industry in Ukraine, further improvement of Ukrainian-EU co-operation will promote its development later on and strengthening of competitiveness of Ukrainian aircraft at the world market.

Besides, as it was mentioned in the Minutes based on results of consultations regarding “horizontal” aviation agreement, held on 4-5 April 2005 in Brussels: “Ukraine should be considered as a strategic partner… common aviation area should comprise common rules on air traffic safety provision and physical security, open markets and create economic opportunities, promote adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to the EU  tandards and support of co-operation in the field of scientific research and technology”.
