Volume of flights in the Ukrainian sky is recovering very slowly after opening of airline service |
UkSATSE provided air navigation services for 4584 flights performed in June 2020, which is 87.1% less than in June 2019.
In general, the June air traffic by flight type is distributed as follows: domestic flights - 1,403 (53.9% less than in June 2019), international flights - 1,650 (-89.5%) and transit flights - 1,531 (-90.8%). In June, Ukrainian airlines carried out 1,778 flights while foreign airlines performed 2,806 flights.
The biggest decline remains in the volume of transit flights in the Ukrainian airspace - this indicator in June 2020 is almost 91% lower compared to the same indicator last year.
Transit flows always make up the bulk of revenues of air navigation service providers - in particular, the share of such revenues in the structure of UkSATSE revenues by 2014 was almost 70%. For six years, losses from the most profitable source of revenues for servicing transit flows have been exceed 20 billion hryvnia.
Distribution of air traffic by flight information regions (FIR) is the following:
∙ Kyiv FIR - 2,543 flights (86.3% decrease compared to June 2019),
∙ Dnipro FIR - 798 (-70.4%),
∙ Lviv FIR - 1927 (-89.3%),
∙ Odesa FIR - 1120 (-90.3%).
The air traffic in Europe and around the world has gradually started to recover. The biggest increase in flight intensity in Europe has been observed during the previous two weeks, when the average number of flights per day increased by 2,500 flights - the experts of the International Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) report. However, a comparison of current volumes with 2019 shows what a long way it takes for aviation to reach the last year's summer traffic level.
We would like to remind you that in May the total number of flights performed in the airspace of Ukraine was 3237, in April - 2372 flights.
Gradual revival of air traffic in Ukraine began on June 5, 2020 with resumption of a domestic passenger air traffic and launch of an international air traffic on June 15. |
