| UkSATSE conducted a survey of safety culture at the enterprise |
UkSATSE experts have carried out an internal survey of safety culture at the enterprise, which is performed annually based on EUROCONTROL, CANSO and ICAO requirements.
Safety culture is an attitude towards safety as a supreme value, shared by every employee in the organization at all its levels. It reflects the real commitment of staff to safety and is the result of a combined interaction of organizational, professional and national cultures.
A specially created working group, which included experts from the Safety and Quality Inspection Department, Navigation Operation and Surveillance Service, UKRAEROCENTER and Air Navigation Service, conducted survey in spring 2020. The purpose of this activity was to improve UkSATSE safety management system maturity and the enterprise performance within the EUROCONTROL/CANSO project "Standard of Excellence in Safety Management System". The survey also considered the requirements of ICAO 9859 "Safety Management Manual".
Following the results of this work, the Report on survey of safety culture was prepared and approved by the head of UkSATSE in May 2020. A number of activities are planned to implement the recommendations contained in the report, aimed at improving some aspects of safety culture.
It is worth reminding that the safety culture of UkSATSE is subject to external survey within the framework of a joint EUROCONTROL and CANSO project on survey of safety management system maturity - "EUROCONTROL/CANSO SMS Standard of Excellence Measurement". In 2019, UkSATSE was listed in the group of 27 countries with the highest SMS maturity, which includes European providers with the SMS maturity level between 70 and 78%. UkSATSE SMS operates in accordance with European requirements, which provides the enterprise with effective and safe air navigation services in the airspace under the responsibility of Ukraine. Moreover, according to the conclusion of these influential international aviation organizations, UkSATSE SMS is fully compliant with the requirements of Annex 19 "Safety Management" to the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago, 1944). |
