FAA completely lifts restrictions for U.S. civil operators on flights over Black Sea under Ukraine's responsibility
From 27 October 2020, the Federal Aviation Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation has scheduled an update to the Special Federal Aviation Regulations (SFAR 113) on flights restrictions by American operators in airspace under Ukrainian responsibility.

The document states that Ukraine has introduced effective measures to ensure the safety of civil aviation flights in the Simferopol flight information region, in particular in the international airspace where responsibility for air traffic services is delegated to Ukraine.

Based on an analysis of risk management monitoring reports for the last three and a half years, it has been noted that as a result of the focused efforts of Ukraine, the number of cases that had a potential impact on safety associated with the Russian aggression in Ukraine has decreased to almost zero.

At the same time, the airspace over the temporarily occupied territory of the ARC was and remains inaccessible for planning and execution of flights in accordance with the decision of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine.

Andrey Yarmak, Head of UkSATSE: «The conclusions of FAA, as one of the world's most authoritative aviation safety regulators, on the appropriate level of safety in international airspace above the high seas, is another very important recognition for the aviation community worldwide. They are based on a professional assessment of the complex of measures that have been implemented to minimize threats and enhance safety level in the western part of the Simferopol flight information region».

The Head of UkSATSE underlines that this decision is a confirmation of accuracy of the results of post-implementation monitoring of Ukraine, as well as conclusions of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency published at the end of August this year.

Vladyslav Kryklii, Minister of Infrastructure: «We are proud of this result of constructive cooperation between specialists of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine and UkSATSE with international aviation organizations and aviation authorities of different countries, and in particular with FAA».

Furthermore, FAA continues for a year to enforce the current ban on civil American operators to perform flights in the eastern part of the Dnipro flight information region due to risks to civil aviation related to the conflict in the eastern Ukraine.
