UkSATSE studies the expedience of implementing Remote Tower technology in Ukraine
The Ukrainian State Air Traffic Service Enterprise (UkSATSE) in cooperation with SAAB Company is considering the expedience of implementing the new technology for aviation market – providing of remote controlling for airdromes with low traffic intensity.
In course of the meeting, which took place on September 11, 2012 at UkSATSE premises, air traffic control experts and SAAB representatives discussed technical aspects of Remote Tower implementation, namely examined the peculiarities of different airdrome zones, and possibility of implementing this technology in Ukraine.
According to the expert opinion, the use of remote control towers at airdromes with low traffic intensity would enable the air navigation service provider – UkSATSE to optimize costs and to provide the necessary level of flights safety.
Modern technical solutions such as Remote Tower with the help of high-precision controlled cameras and data transmission network allow broadcasting of images from airdrome at any distance. Besides, such system has double back-up and secures the accuracy of the received information at any time of the day and night and during bad weather.
It was agreed that SAAB will develop the optimal cost-effective and technical Remote Tower solution for Ukraine. Thus, during 2012-2013 the expedience of implementing Remote Tower technology in Ukraine will be defined.
