EUROCONTROL Task Forces for the Implementation of Airspace Strategy (IAS-TFA and IAS-TFB) for the ECAC States Meetings were held in Kyiv |
The Meetings of Task Forces on Implementation of Airspace Strategy for the ECAC States (Ukraine became ECAC State in 1999) took place in Kyiv on 20-22 June 2006.
The EUROCONTROL Airspace Strategy for the ECAC States, approved by EUROCONTROL Provisional Council and Permanent Commission on 18 January 2002, determines the future evolution of the ECAC airspace organisation up to 2015. The main objective of the Strategy is to achieve the uniform airspace organisation for all the ECAC Region.
The IAS-TFA and IAS-TFB work at realisation of such key lines of the Strategy as “Simplification of Airspace Organisation” (IAS-TFA) and "Enhancement of Airspace Management & Civil-Military Co-ordination" (IAS-TFB).
The regular 27th IAS-TFA Meeting within the framework of Operational Improvement OI-3A considered the issue of possibility to reduce by ECAC States the number of ICAO airspace Classes from seven to three: C, E, G. Particular attention was paid to the application of Class C and Class E airspace in Control Zones (CTR).
Participants of the 24th IAS-TFB Meeting focused on the issues of development and implementation of Operational Improvements OI-3B, OI-4B1, OI-4B2, OI-5B1 and OI-5B2. In particular, matters of Annual progress Report on current status and plans of ECAC States on Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA) Concept implementation as at 2006; dynamic Airspace Management; possibility of unification of Conditional Route types from three categories to one; stepped approach for moving towards Collaborative European Airspace Planning were discussed.
The Task Forces comprise experts of Aviation Authorities and ECAC States’ Air Navigation Service Providers as well as Experts of EUROCONTROL Agency (ATM Strategies Directorate, Central Flow Management Unit (CFMU), EUROCONTROL Military Unit, Maastricht UAC). 20 ECAC States and Byelorussia were represented at the Meeting held in Kyiv.
Practice of conducting TFA-TFB Meetings outside the EUROCONTROL Headquarters promotes exchange of experiences between experts on airspace management and Civil-Military Co-ordination of the ECAC States and EUROCONTROL. |
