ICAO auditors noted the progress of Ukraine in the field of safety
Ukraine is a signatory to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, which sets out the obligations to comply with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs). From February 25 to March 3, 2020, as part of the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP), ICAO undertook a mission to Ukraine to verify the status of ICAO SARPs implementation and compliance with Ukraine's obligations as an ICAO member-state.

According to the preliminary results of the ICAO Coordinated Validation Mission (ICVM), Ukraine has enhanced the level of effective implementation of SARPs in organization and management of the state system of control over the safety.

The auditors of the ICAO mission noted significant progress in the implementation of ICAO SARPs in Ukraine in comparison with the results of the previous audit in 2017. Currently, the Effective Implementation (EI) index corresponds to the average European level and is considerably higher than the global average.

ICVM was performed in 8 audit areas: (primary aviation legislation and civil aviation regulations -LEG, civil aviation organization – ORG, personnel licensing and training – PEL, aircraft operations – OPS, airworthiness of aircraft – AIR, aircraft accident and incident investigation – AIG, air navigation services – ANS, and aerodromes and ground aids - AGA) within the framework of 8 Critical Elements (CE) of the state safety control system.
