SIGMET information to be disseminated in an updated format
On December 7, 2016 at 09:00 UTC UkSATSE meteorological surveillance stations are launching SIGMET broadcastings in an updated format pursuant to the introduction in Ukraine of the provisions of Amendment 77 to the Annex 3 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) assigns SIGMET to meteorological information that has the highest priority for en-route flight operations of aircraft. This information includes actual or expected occurrence of en-route weather phenomena which may affect safety of flights.
SIGMET is included into the VHF broadcasts of VOLMET radio transmissions. Therefore the air navigation service of UkSATSE has upgraded the software of the automated system for broadcasting meteorological information by VOLMET VHF stations at Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Odesa and Kyiv regional branches of UkSATSE.
