UkSATSE Flight and Calibration Services has been performing flight inspection in the countries of Africa region
The aircraft laboratory of UkSATSE Flight and Calibration Services with registration number UR-CWA has been performing flight checks of ground-based radio technical support aids and lighting equipment in the airports of the countries in Africa: South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and the Kingdom of Eswatini. These flight checks are performed under the partnership contract with Flight Precision Ltd (UK).

Having been involved in the above activities (on mission) since August 2020, the crew of the aircraft laboratory has already successfully completed the flight calibration programme in the Republic of South Africa – 22 instrumental approach systems, 40 VOR/DME navigation radio beacons and 3 positions of ground equipment in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Mr Wolfgang JÖRES, Director of Flight Precision Ltd (UK), commented on the successful experience of cooperation with UkSATSE, “Partnership between companies working in the same field is very common in the modern world. Quite often the distances between the regions – where our aircraft are located and where we need to perform flight inspection – is very large. To bring the best value to our clients we cooperate with several reputable and reliable flight inspection providers around the world to gain benefit from reduced ferry time and quicker response time. Our team is made up of multinational specialist British, Germans, French, Spaniards, Argentines and it allows us to offer our services globally.

Ukraine has extensive experience in performing flight inspections using King Air 350 aircraft equipped with German made Aerodata’s Flight Inspection System (FIS) – the same aircraft and FIS that we use. UkSATSE has been operating this equipment since 2000 and over the 20 years gained colossal experience, especially for the flight inspectors.

We have successfully cooperated with UkSATSE last year – and performed contracts in Romania (August) and in Moldova (October).

Following the completion of engine overhaul in Germany on one of the UkSATSE flight inspection aircraft, we have agreed to intensify our cooperation and include larger scale and more distant projects.
Implementation of the major Southern African contract was planned to start in March 2020 but was postponed to early autumn due to the COVID-19 restrictions. The contract involves performance of flight inspection in seven countries: South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique, Botswana and the Kingdom of Eswatini.
When both companies utilise the same type of equipment, it makes it very convenient as pilots and flight inspectors are equally familiar with the system and its capability, and if necessary, can work back to back.

The professionalism of the Ukrainian team working in the Southern African region is beyond any doubt.

The contract was initially planned for six months but is now certainly going to be extended further. We have also secured a contract in Armenia for later this year that we are looking forward to working together on and hopefully there will be many more projects in future that would benefit from our close cooperation.”
