The Ukrainian air traffic in September is minus 56% compared to 2019 |
In September 2020, UkSATSE provided air navigation services for 14,959 flights, which is 56.6% less than in the same period in 2019.
Ukrainian airlines performed 6,100 flights (43.6% less than in September last year), foreign airlines - 8,859 flights (-62.6%).
Distribution of flights by type: 2,710 flights performed in September - domestic (-0.3% compared to September 2019), 7,017 - international (-55.4%) and 5,232 - transit (-67.4%).
It should be reminded that in September Ukraine had a ban on border crossing for foreign citizens, which primarily affected the number of international flights.
Thus, EUROCONTROL's forecast of a gradual recovery of air traffic in September did not materialise. Compared to this August, the number of flights in September decreased by almost two thousand flights.
The dynamics of air traffic in the airspace of Ukraine in 2020: June - 4584 flights, July - 12 195 flights, August - 16 690 flights and September - 14 959 flights.
According to experts from EUROCONTROL, the percentage decrease in the number of flights in the European airspace reached 54% in September, whereas in the April forecast this figure was expected to be only 40%.
Due to the reduced demand for flights during winter navigation, as well as the continuation of quarantine restrictions at border crossings in many countries around the world, it can be predicted that the recovery in flight intensity by the end of the year will be significantly slower than predicted at the beginning of quarantine.
