Champions League final: top managers of UkSATSE discuss interaction with Director of Network Manager Directorate (EUROCONTROL) |
Dmytro BABEICHUK, Director of UkSATSE, Ruslan HUTSAN, First Deputy Director, Operations, and Joe Sultana, Director Network Manager, EUROCONTROL, discussed the planning of flights bound for Boryspil and Kyiv (Zhuliany) International Airports during the UEFA Champions League final in Kyiv.
According to the experts’ preliminary estimates, traffic intensity at Kyiv airports will be several times higher than during Euro-2012. Especially, we expect significant increase in air traffic volume on 25 and 26 May 2018.
In particular, UkSATSE air traffic controllers are planned to provide air navigation services at Boryspil and Kyiv (Zhuliany) airports alone for more than 450 regular and more than 70 charter flights on the day of the final.
“At the moment, it's very difficult to forecast which routes will increase the air traffic volume. This will only become clear after the semifinals and after the teams to enter the Champions League final are determined. We are not immune to changes that can be made to the airplanes schedule, for instance, by weather conditions, but at such an intensity, even a few minutes of delay are significant. That is why it is very important for us to forecast and work out such situations with EUROCONTROL. In order to effectively coordinate our operation, UkSATSE is planning to send to EUROCONTROL UkSATSE specialists on air traffic flow planning and management,” - said Dmytro Babeichuk.
